DAYCAMPS:

Playmore Day Camp Adventure

Under new leadership for the 2019 Season! Playmore Day Camp offers opportunities for cottage owners and Kenora residents looking at short term summer camp activities. The day camp is geared to children, four- 12 years, who experience the magic of camp and still return home each evening! They have the best of both worlds - a camp community which is built exclusively for kids and their own home which provides the security they need and quality time in the summer with their families. The success of our campers is centered on age-specific groups, experienced and well-trained staff, and our wide variety of activities. We provide activities like swimming, arts & crafts, archery, canoeing, kayaking, ropes course, sports, games, and group initiative activities. We also offer Friday lunch cook-outs and the occasional outing. Through hands-on activities, careful supervision and low counselor to camper ratios, Playmore Day Camp builds self-esteem, provides an excellent opportunity for individual growth and offers a safe and enjoyable summer alternative for children. We also offer a CIT (counselor in training) program for 13 - 15 year olds seeking advanced leadership programs within a day camp environment. Some sessions are full.

For further information, please contact the BB Camp office.

Assiniboine Park Zoo Camp

It's an Adventure they can get their hands on!

Summer Camp at Assiniboine Park Zoo is perfect for children 5 to 12 years of age who love animals, nature, art, and spending time outdoors. Campers will enjoy fun-filled summer days exploring the Park and Zoo and learning about animals and nature while making new friends.

Summer 2019 with Mad Science

Discover the draw of Mad Science in the summer at your local community center. Mad Science engages children in scientific explorations that are so much fun children will forget they're learning! Each of our camps are one week of hands-on science fun.

The following is a description of the camp themes:

Extreme Science - Here at Mad Science weíre looking forward to bringing back our original Science camp. This is the camp that made summer an exciting time for our budding Mad Scientists. Each day has its own theme from Heat (with humongous solar balloon to solar ovens to cotton candy) to Ice (of course Dry Ice and to top it off we make ice-cream without a machine!) and Bugs; join us on a bug safari and the campers design a bug habitat. And on the final day we have a spectacular rocket launch...parents welcome. In addition, each camper will make his/her own rocket to take home and launch! (Under supervision, of course.) Recommended for children 6-12 years old.

Energize It ! Camp - At Energize It! camp we learn about alternative energy such as Solar, Wind and blast off Hydrogen powered Rockets (our campers actually help make the hydrogen fuel!) We will also engage in other forms of Earth Awareness such as making our own paper and return to the days of the pioneers as the campers design and make their own water filtration systems. Discover the way in which our bodies and its functions determine why we are good at some sports and not others. See how an animalís unique characteristics aid in supplying energy for their survival as we simulate their jaws and claws and forage for food. Come get energized! Recommended for children 5-10 years old.
