It’s time to turn off the TV, video games and computers and vow to spend more time outside daily, being active and having fun! Parents need to set an example and participate with their kids in outdoor fun. Check out the Participaction Playlist 150 to try something new this month and all summer long. It is a great cross country challenge that everyone can register for and then try the many activities suggested. Have you tried wall climbing or archery, hackey sack, raking leaves, building a sandcastle, monkey bar climbing, wood chopping, wash the car, badminton etc? Visit www.participaction.com/150 register and make it a family challenge over the next few months! You can win prizes too!

Is your child going to camp this summer? It is an experience of a lifetime. Check out our camps included in this issue to find the perfect match for your child. Camp varieties are numerous but book in now to ensure a space. If you want to send your child to a sleep away camp…it is important to make sure they can handle it. Have they slept over at grandparents or friends houses without a problem? Are they independent? Can they tie their shoes, brush their teeth, dress themselves etc? Talk to camp directors to find out who they hire as counselors? Call the Manitoba Camping Association for referrals and to have all your questions about camps in Manitoba answered.
