Fall is here and we are full established in our family routines and hopefully enjoying the season of raking leaves, running to kids programs and preparing for winter to arrive. First, we celebrate Thanksgiving, then Halloween is just around the corner. These are wonderful celebrations to share with family and friends. Get everyone together for Thanksgiving with a pot luck dinner and celebrate what you are grateful for. Talk to your kids about being grateful for simple things and the meaning of Thanksgiving. Each day is a gift, some are better than others, but we must focus on the positive things that make up our daily lives.
Parenting is hard, but it is also fun, exciting and rewarding. Everyone needs the support of friends and family so try to build a community of supportive people around you to lean on when you need help. There are community groups like Y Neighbours, community centre play groups or family centre groups to join to meet new people. Searching out support is much easier than it used to be with online parenting communities. Simply googling parenting support groups Winnipeg will bring up many options.
Are you ready for winter? Have you pulled out our kid's snowsuits, boots, mitts and hats yet? Get on it now before it snows to make sure everything fits and is in good order. Planning and being organized will make life easier.
In this issue we feature Halloween events, children's activities and great articles about by our local experts, recipes, family health topics and more!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Halloween!
