Winter 2026

Is it Just Me… or is Anyone Else Still Hoping for Snow?

Winnipeg winter has been slow to arrive, and my family is eagerly imagining sledding hills, snow forts, and those first perfect snow angels. We’re watching and waiting for that magical blanket of white to finally show up!

While we wait, I’m reminding myself that winter isn’t only defined by the weather—it’s shaped by the moments we make together. Even without snow, there’s so much joy in crisp morning walks, warm cocoa breaks, and simple evenings spent playing games or reading as a family. These are the quieter moments where connection settles in, almost without us noticing.

In this issue of Winnipeg Parent, you’ll find plenty of ways to make the most of the season, snow or not. We’re sharing ideas to stay active, supportive advice from local experts, gift-giving inspiration, tips for helping toddlers through big changes, and thoughts on new experiences—from journaling with your kids to trying new classes together.

Here’s to winter in all its forms, whether we’re bundled up outside or cozy indoors. I’m still wishing for snow… are you with me? We’ll see you again soon in our Spring Issue.
