Moo Mission is NOW OPEN to explore
There’s something new moo and exciting for visitors at the Children’s Museum. The construction fences have come down, and the Children’s Museum has officially unveiled Moo Mission – a renewal of the former Milk Machine gallery, one of twelve permanent galleries located at the museum.
In partnership with Dairy Farmers of Manitoba (DFM), this project marks the Children’s Museum’s first major redevelopment since the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting a commitment to providing innovative and engaging educational experiences for children under 10 years old.

Fun & Learning
In the new Moo Mission gallery, visitors will learn where their ice cream comes from, listen to the sounds of a farm, see how dairy farmers take care of their animals, and identify the people who help bring milk from the farm to their tables.
In alignment with the museum’s mission to spark kids’ creative learning, children will be able to immerse themselves in various challenges and activities to discover as many people, animals, and places as they can in a modern dairy farming community.
Reinforcing Manitoba curriculum and subjects learned at school, the gallery will also teach children about the importance of caring for our natural resources including animals, water, and land.
“We are delighted to renew our long-standing partnership with the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba,” said Sara Hancheruk, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum. “This new gallery will provide an exciting new interactive experience for children, teaching them about dairy farming, sustainability, and the importance of community in a fun and engaging way.”
Community & Collaboration
In design behind the scenes for several years and created with exhibit designers, Toboggan Design, from Montreal, Moo Mission showcases the strong sense of community and collaboration involved in dairy farming. From farmers and veterinarians to truck drivers and grocery store workers, children will discover the many people and roles that contribute to bringing dairy products to their tables, reflecting the interconnectedness and teamwork within this local agricultural community and emphasizing the importance of each role in the dairy farming process.
