Rain, rain, go away!

Well, I am officially done with May showers and ready for the sunshine of June!

What are your favourite family things to going into June? One of my favourite events leading into the month is the CancerCare Challenge for Life. This year it’s Saturday, June 1st and the 5km walk is a great family event, taking you through the trails of Assiniboine Park. Most importantly, all money raised at this event stays to help fight cancer in Manitoba. Read more about the Challenge for Life in this issue of THE SCOOP and get on your walking shoes, it’s not too late to register!

Speaking of registering, summer camp season is coming up for your little ones. Looking for a dance camp, sports camp, music camp or more, there are so many choices out there. Visit our website for camp ideas in the May/June issue, and past issues of Winnipeg Parent on-line. It’s a great starting point.

Whatever your plans are, coming into the last month of school, make sure you get out in the sunshine!

In late August I picked up a local paper in a coffee shop. Looking at all the “back to school” inserts, my heart sank. “Summer is coming to an end,” I whispered as I scanned the advertising for binders, calculators, and Sharpies.
